Take a Walk around Lake Lorraine
Oversized Adirondack chairs at the south and west ends of the lake provide good spots to sit for a spell and enjoy the view or, if you’re so inclined, to practice your “Edith Ann.”
There's a sizeable beach on the northern edge of the lake where the Hyatt hotel is situated. I've often thought of taking a staycation at the Hyatt (Sioux Falls' only) just so I could hang out on that beach. Since the lake is privately owned, swimming and fishing are not allowed. I wouldn't think loitering on the Hyatt's beach would be permitted either.
However, if you want to "legally" get in the lake, you can take a class through Flow and Paddle. They offer paddle board, kayak, and pedal boat classes and rentals, as well as tours. Their kiosk is located on the southwest side of the lake. Mr. C. and I have taken the beginner SUP class, $30/each, and it was fun. A fish even nibbled my toe.
You'll find shopping and restaurants at Lake Lorraine. There's a farmer's market on Thursdays during the months of June through October. It's uncommon in Sioux Falls to find such a pristine body of water within the city limits.

If you're truly enamored with the place, there are opportunities to live, work, and play at Lake Lorraine. Upscale retirement living, Grand Living, anchors the south side of the lake. Adjacent to that on the west-end are high-end townhomes, The Shores at Lake Lorraine. And apartment living is coming soon, spring of 2023, at The Blu, located directly to the east of Hyatt Place.

Dogs are permitted on the walking path, but be sure to clean up after your pet. I've found dog walking a bit challenging as the path can be somewhat of a goose poop smorgasbord. If your dog hasn't acquired a taste for such delicacies, maybe you'll have better luck than I have!
Oh yeah, parking. I’m not gonna lie, I sometimes park in the Hyatt lot and walk down the grass hill to the lakeside. There’s free parking on Westlake Drive as well as a large, free parking lot along the shopping area just east of S. Lorraine Place.
